Hotel Description

You know what surprised me most about The Manhattan Club? It actually feels like a hidden gem right in the middle of all the Times Square chaos. I mean, you’re literally on 56th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue, but somehow when you step into that lobby, the city noise just… fades. Maybe it’s the way they’ve designed the entrance, or honestly, it could just be that you’re so relieved to escape the tourist madness outside.

The thing is, this place gets the balance right between feeling upscale and not making you worry about every little thing. Your room key works on the first try (I know, revolutionary), the elevators don’t take forever, and the staff actually remembers your name after day two. The rooms themselves are what I’d call “properly sized for Manhattan” – which means you’re not bumping into furniture, but you’re also not hosting dinner parties. What I really appreciated was the attention to soundproofing. I was expecting sirens and street noise all night, but honestly slept better than I do at home. The beds are firm without being prison-cot firm, and they’ve got those blackout curtains that actually work.

Here’s where it gets good though – the location is kind of perfect if you know how to work it. You’re close enough to Times Square that you can walk over for a show or whatever tourist thing you need to check off, but you’re also right near some of the better local spots that most visitors miss. There’s this little coffee place on 57th that locals hit before work, and you can actually get to Central Park without fighting through the crowds at Columbus Circle. Plus – and this is huge – you’re near the N, Q, R, and W trains, so getting downtown or to the Upper East Side is actually straightforward. I’ve stayed at fancier places that left me stranded in terms of getting around the city efficiently.

The whole experience just feels… competent, I guess? Like someone thought through what business travelers and savvy tourists actually need. Check-in was smooth even when I arrived early, they held my bags without the usual song and dance, and when I had to extend my stay an extra night (work drama), they made it happen without acting like I was asking for the moon. It’s not the kind of place where you’re paying for a rooftop pool you’ll never use or some celebrity chef restaurant you can’t get into anyway. Instead, you get solid service, rooms that work, and a location that puts you right in the sweet spot of Midtown without the premium you’d pay for something flashier. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want from a New York hotel – especially when you’d rather spend your money on the city itself instead of just where you’re sleeping.

Excellent place, excellent location. Close to Central Park for running. And very easy to reach other parts of Manhattan either walking or by subway. Quiet excellent lounge with bar at top floor. Also very good business/officeroom and fitnessroom. Stayed in a 1-bedroom suite which was big and perfect for us, with sofa-bed in livingroom which we did use. Very helpful front desk providing late checkout. All other staff giving very good impression, and seemed service-minded. The pictures and description both on their own webpage and on Booking.com is true, so it really exceeded my expectations 🙂

Hope this place is available on next trip to NYC.

    We loved it.
The staff we always happy to help, plus answer any questions. We had a junior suite and that was good for us and a 5 and 10 yr olds. The pull out sofa bed was actually really comfortable. Plus the kitchenette was a saver, being able to keep some food in the room and some basic meals was great!!
