Hotel 48LEX New York Overview
You know what struck me first about Hotel 48LEX? It’s tucked right into that stretch of Lexington Avenue where you’re close enough to everything but not drowning in the Times Square madness. I mean, you step out the door and you’ve got the 6 train literally two blocks away at 51st Street, plus you’re walking distance to Grand Central – which honestly makes getting around the city so much easier than I expected.
The lobby has this modern, slightly industrial vibe that actually works really well. It’s not trying too hard to be fancy, but it doesn’t feel budget either. Check-in was pretty smooth when I was there in October, though I heard from the front desk that summer can get a bit hectic with all the tourists. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place in Midtown – not huge (this is New York after all), but cleverly designed so you don’t feel cramped. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and thank god the windows actually block out most of the street noise. I was worried about that since Lexington can get pretty busy during rush hour, but I slept fine even on the lower floors.
What I really appreciated were the little things that show someone actually thought about what travelers need. The USB ports are in logical places, the shower has decent water pressure (you’d be surprised how rare that is in some NYC hotels), and the AC works without sounding like a jet engine. The neighborhood is honestly one of the better spots to stay if you want to feel like you’re in the real New York without paying Midtown West prices. You’ve got proper delis on every corner, that great little coffee place on 48th and Lex that locals actually go to, and you can walk to Bryant Park in about ten minutes when you need some green space. Plus, if you’re into food, you’re right in the sweet spot between Koreatown and some of the better Midtown East restaurants that don’t show up in every guidebook. The hotel itself isn’t going to blow you away – it’s solid, dependable, and the staff generally knows what they’re doing. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want in a city that can be overwhelming enough on its own.

Ali from Lebanon (7/10)
the room itself was good and of decent size, the bed is actually comfortable. what I really liked the bathroom in terms of space, comfort and the generous size of the stand in shower – the water pressure and temperature were way below what is required.
Rod from Australia (9/10)
The hotel is really well located with restaurants and bars within a short distance. We mainly walked everywhere and took a day tour so can't comment on the subway but I'm sure it was close by. Great patisseire accross the road. We were upgraded to a deluxe room which was great. The room itself and the bathroom were specious and as we were on a high floor the views were wonderful. The breakfast is served in the adjoining bar/restaurant, which although only had limited al la carte choice, it was all you needed and the quality was very good. Friendly and helpful staff. We would definitely stay again when in NY.
