But walking into this converted Art Deco skyscraper, you immediately get why it’s pulling a 9.2 rating. The lobby still has that old-school Wall Street gravitas, but they’ve done something clever with the lighting and furniture that makes it feel more like a sophisticated friend’s apartment than some stuffy corporate hotel.

What really won me over was the attention to detail in the suites themselves. These aren’t your typical cramped Manhattan hotel rooms – you actually get space to breathe, plus full kitchens that aren’t just for show. The appliances are legit, which is perfect because grabbing groceries from the Whole Foods over on Broad Street beats room service prices every time. And you know what? The soundproofing is surprisingly good. I was worried about street noise since Pine Street can get pretty busy during the day, but once you’re upstairs, it’s genuinely quiet. The views from the higher floors are something else too – depending on which side you’re on, you might catch glimpses of the harbor or look out over the maze of narrow streets that make this neighborhood so interesting to explore.

The location is actually pretty brilliant once you figure it out. Sure, it’s not Times Square, but that’s exactly the point. You’re a five-minute walk from the Fulton Street transit hub, which means you can get anywhere in the city without much hassle. Stone Street’s restaurant scene is right around the corner – honestly, some of the best happy hour spots in the city are within two blocks. And if you’re into the whole historical thing, you’re practically standing on top of where New York began. Trinity Church is right there, the 9/11 Memorial is an easy walk, and South Street Seaport has really come back to life in recent years. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after business hours, which I actually loved – it’s like having your own private corner of Manhattan. Check-in was smooth, the staff clearly knows what they’re doing, and the whole operation feels more like a well-run apartment building than a hotel. It’s not cheap, but for what you get in this part of town, it’s actually reasonable. I’d definitely stay here again.
