I stayed here during a particularly brutal August heat wave, and the AC didn’t struggle at all – something you can’t take for granted in older Manhattan buildings.

What really sold me on this place was how it sits right in that sweet spot between downtown grit and tourist convenience. You’re walking distance to the 9/11 Memorial, but you can also slip over to Stone Street for drinks without dealing with Midtown crowds. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after business hours (it’s mostly office buildings), which means you’ll actually sleep well, but it also means finding a decent cup of coffee before 7 AM requires a little planning. The whole check-in process is app-based – no traditional front desk situation – which felt weird at first but honestly grew on me. No awkward small talk with desk clerks, no waiting in lobby lines, just grab your key code and go.

The area’s got character too. You’ll walk past these incredible old bank buildings that make you feel like you’re in a movie, and the views from higher floors – well, let’s just say the harbor views are worth requesting. One thing though: if you’re the type who needs 24/7 room service and a concierge, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a clean, spacious base camp for exploring the city without paying those insane Midtown hotel prices, Sonder nailed it here. The 8.0 rating feels right – it’s solid, does what it promises, and the location is honestly better than most people realize until they’re walking to Brooklyn Bridge or catching an easy subway connection to literally anywhere.

  The location of the Sonder is fantastic, walking distance from Wall st, 9/11 memorial and Battery park. It was also close to the subway and ferry’s, and there are shops and places to eat near by. The apartment was a very good size, kitchen with good facilities (coffee machines, large fridge freeze, dishwasher and microwave), a dining area, we had a main bedroom with en-suite and there was a comfortable pull out bed in the lounge and a family bathroom. The staff were friendly and accommodating, they let us store bags on early arrival, they helped book a taxi for our airport return and they gave good directions.
