Hotel 50 Bowery, part of JdV by Hyatt Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel 50 Bowery, part of JdV by Hyatt, you immediately notice how it stands out against the bustling Chinatown streetscape. This four-star property has this sleek, modern facade that feels refreshingly contemporary while still respecting the neighborhood’s character. The lobby hits you with clean lines and thoughtful design — honestly, it’s a nice surprise in an area where you might expect something more traditional. You can tell right away that this isn’t your typical tourist trap hotel.
Location & Neighborhood
The location is actually brilliant if you want to experience the real New York. You’re right in the heart of Chinatown, which means incredible dim sum is literally steps away, and the energy of the neighborhood is infectious. What I love is that you can walk to Little Italy in about three minutes, and SoHo’s shopping is just a short stroll north. The subway connections are solid too — you’ve got multiple lines within walking distance. Couples seem to get this location particularly well, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about exploring these historic streets together, then retreating to your modern sanctuary.
The Room Experience
The rooms are where Hotel 50 Bowery really delivers on comfort. Those beds everyone raves about? They’re not kidding — I mean, after a day of walking around the city, sinking into one of these feels like a small miracle. The rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with light, and if you’re lucky enough to get a higher floor, the city views are pretty spectacular. The design is clean and uncluttered, which feels like a breath of fresh air when you’ve been navigating the sensory overload of New York streets.
Breakfast & Dining
The American breakfast here is solid — nothing too fancy, but it gets the job done with quality ingredients and good coffee. What’s nice is that they don’t try to compete with the incredible food scene right outside their door. Instead, you get a reliable start to your day before heading out to explore the dumpling shops and noodle houses that make this neighborhood famous. The hotel’s approach feels smart — they know you’re probably going to want to eat your way through Chinatown anyway.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something special about staying at Hotel 50 Bowery that goes beyond the comfortable beds and prime location. It’s the way the hotel manages to feel like a calm, sophisticated retreat while keeping you connected to one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods. You’re not isolated in some sterile hotel bubble — you’re part of the fabric of the area, but with all the modern amenities you need. The staff seems to understand this balance too, offering local insights without being pushy about it. For travelers who want to experience authentic New York while still having a comfortable, well-designed place to recharge, this place really hits the mark.
New York’s apartments welcome families with play lofts, stroller storage, and easy subway rides to museums.

The location was excellent. Within close walking distance to a few different subway stations. The rooms were nicely decorated with a neat vibe, fairly spacious, and very comfortable. Staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was excellent. The coffee and tea available on the 2nd floor was nice. I would definitely stay here again.

Always an excellent experience at the Hotel 50 Bowery. Rooms have amazing views, and we were treated to a bottle of Prosecco as we were celebrating our anniversary. We appreciate the hotel’s management and attention to detail.

Everything! Amazing location – walkable into Chinatown, Little Italy, Soho, LES.. SO clean, and hospitable. We arrived way earlier than expected and were able to check in early for a small fee. Very comfortable bed, friendly staff (particularly the rooftop bar staff!)

Roman from Israel (8/10)
A good hotel, very convenient location in Chinatown. Felt comfortable and safe walking around day and night, we especially liked the markets on Mott St. For the subway we used the Canal station, it was the cleanest in the area.
The room was clean and the service was efficient. Another nice touch – the gym was great.Patricia from United States (9/10)
