Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “Aloft in Harlem,” I wasn’t sure what to expect. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It sits right on Frederick Douglass Boulevard, and you know what? The location is pretty genius. You’re literally in the heart of Harlem without feeling like you’re staying in some touristy bubble that pretends the neighborhood doesn’t exist.

The hotel itself has that signature Aloft vibe – you know, modern and a bit playful without trying too hard. The lobby’s got this energetic buzz, especially in the evenings when people are coming and going from dinner at Red Rooster (which is just a few blocks down, by the way). I mean, the building feels fresh and the rooms are clean with those platform beds that are actually comfortable, though honestly, the walls aren’t the thickest if you’re a light sleeper. The fitness center is decent sized, and there’s this WXYZ bar area that gets pretty lively – sometimes too lively if you’re trying to wind down early, but that’s part of the neighborhood energy, I guess.

What really gets me about staying here is how connected you feel to actual Harlem life. Marcus Garvey Park is basically across the street, and on weekend mornings you’ll hear drummers practicing – it’s this incredible soundtrack you just don’t get in Midtown hotels. The subway situation is solid too; the 2 and 3 trains at 125th Street are about a ten-minute walk, maybe fifteen if you’re dragging luggage. And here’s something most people don’t mention – parking is actually manageable around here compared to downtown, though you’ll still want to use the hotel’s valet service if you’re driving (trust me on this one). The staff genuinely seems to know the area well; they pointed me toward this amazing Ethiopian place on Amsterdam Avenue that I never would’ve found otherwise. The neighborhood gets quiet surprisingly early on weeknights, which is nice for sleeping, but weekends can get a bit more animated – especially during the summer when everyone’s out on stoops and street corners. It’s not a luxury experience in the traditional sense, but there’s something authentic about it that feels way more New York than those generic glass towers further south.

  Really comfortable hotel. The room is big, decor is quit updated, the bed is really comfortable. The little vending space ate the lobby is very convenient. The gym is ok, nice equipments. I was there to attend a course at Columbia Business School, and the location was perfect, walking distance (about 15 min walk). Many options of public transport nearby (Subway A and C 1 block away, Subways 2 and 3 2 blocks away). Staff was really friendly and helpful.

  Hotel very comfortable and my room quiet. It is close to Subway for A,B,C &,D lines and bus that goes down west sode of NYC so although out of Midtown it is not inaccessible.
