You’re about a ten-minute stroll to Central Park’s entrance at 79th Street, and honestly, that morning walk became part of my routine. The subway situation is pretty solid too – the 79th Street station is right there, so getting downtown doesn’t require the usual Upper West Side trek to find decent transit. Plus, you’re in the heart of all those great food spots that aren’t trying to fleece tourists. There’s this Ethiopian place around the corner that I stumbled into one night, and Zabar’s is basically your neighborhood gourmet market. The 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be the Plaza, but it delivers on what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. Check-in was smooth, the WiFi actually worked well (tested it on video calls), and the neighborhood genuinely feels safe for walking around at night. If you want to stay somewhere that feels like you’re experiencing New York rather than just visiting it, this spot hits that mark pretty well.

  Location was great. The front desk staff did a good job at checking us in and making sure the room was ok. Once they switched us to a new, larger room (after the first had some mechanical issues that were incredibly loud) it was ok.
