Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York, an IHG Hotel Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Indigo on Ludlow Street? It actually feels like it belongs in the Lower East Side, which honestly isn’t something you can say about most hotels that try to plant themselves in this neighborhood. I mean, this area has been everything from immigrant tenements to hipster central to whatever it’s morphing into now, and somehow this place managed to land right in the sweet spot without feeling like it’s trying too hard.
The building itself sits on one of those classic LES blocks where you’ve got old-school Puerto Rican bodegas next to overpriced vintage shops – and the hotel designers clearly paid attention to that mix. Walking into the lobby, there’s this warm, slightly industrial vibe that reminds you you’re not in Midtown (thank god). The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully sized for New York, which is code for “not tiny but don’t expect to do yoga.” What I really appreciated was the attention to sound – you’d think being on Ludlow would mean dealing with street noise, but they’ve done something right with the windows because I could barely hear the delivery trucks rumbling by at 6 AM.
Here’s the thing about staying down here – you’re literally walking distance from some of the city’s best late-night eats, but you’re also close enough to catch the F train at Delancey-Essex when you want to escape to other parts of the city. The hotel staff seems to get this balance too; they’ll point you toward Russ & Daughters for bagels (obviously) but they also know about the little Salvadoran place on Rivington that doesn’t look like much from outside. I had a minor issue with the key card on my second night – honestly, it happens everywhere – but the front desk sorted it out without making me feel like I was interrupting their evening. The fitness center is decent enough if you need to burn off all that pastrami, though let’s be real, you’re probably going to be walking enough in this city anyway. One small thing that bugged me was the elevator situation during busy check-in times, but that’s pretty standard for boutique hotels in converted buildings. What sets this place apart is that it doesn’t feel like it’s cosplaying as a neighborhood hotel – it actually functions like one, just with better linens and someone to make your bed.

Emmanuelle from United States (7/10)
The location and room were fantastic, with a dream view on the LES. The room in itself was comfortable, pretty large for NYC. I didn't mind the night-club electronica thumping until late because I enjoy that kind of music but I also couldn't believe that this was happening. No wonder that the reception staff seemed on the defensive. They must be dealing with lots of irate guests.
