Walking into The Chatwal, The Unbound Collection by Hyatt feels like stepping onto a 1930s movie set — and I mean that in the best possible way. My room had this rich, moody color palette — deep blues and golds that felt both cozy and elegant. The bed was seriously comfortable, and the marble bathroom felt like a proper luxury spa retreat. What I really appreciated was the thoughtful layout — there’s actually space to unpack and move around, which isn’t always a given in Midtown Manhattan. The blackout curtains are a godsend if you’re dealing with jet lag, and the soundproofing is surprisingly good considering you’re in one of the busiest neighborhoods on earth.

Dining and Breakfast

The breakfast situation here is actually pretty impressive — they offer everything from continental options to full English breakfast and classic American fare. I went with the American breakfast most mornings, and the quality was consistently good. The restaurant itself, Lambs Club, has this old-school New York steakhouse feel that works perfectly with the hotel’s overall vibe. The cocktail program is where they really shine though — the bar feels like a speakeasy that important people would have frequented back in the day. Fair warning: it’s not cheap, but honestly, nothing in this part of Manhattan is.

  I was so pleasantly surprised by this hotel! The staff was wonderfully attentive and thoughtful, the rooms were clean and efficient, and the bed was so comfortable (I spelt great)!
