First Impressions

Walking into 1 Hotel Central Park feels like stepping into a modern treehouse — and I mean that in the best possible way. The lobby hits you with this incredible living wall of plants that stretches up to the ceiling, while reclaimed wood and natural stone create this sophisticated yet earthy atmosphere. You know what really struck me? The way they’ve managed to bring nature indoors without it feeling gimmicky or forced. It’s actually quite stunning, especially when you consider you’re standing in the middle of Manhattan.

Location & Neighborhood

Honestly, the location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things. You’re right on Avenue of the Americas, which means you can walk to Central Park in about two minutes — seriously, it’s right across the street. Columbus Circle is practically next door, so you’ve got the Time Warner Center with all its shopping and dining options. I found myself popping over to Whole Foods there constantly. The subway access is fantastic too, with the A, B, C, D, and 1 trains all within a few blocks, making it ridiculously easy to get anywhere in the city.

The Room Experience

The rooms continue that nature-meets-luxury theme, but they actually pull it off without being over the top. My room had floor-to-ceiling windows with Central Park views — and let me tell you, waking up to see the park stretching out below never gets old. The bed was genuinely one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in at a five-star hotel, with organic cotton linens that felt incredible. What I really appreciated were the thoughtful touches: hemp bath products, a yoga mat if you’re into that sort of thing, and even the minibar was stocked with local and organic options.

Dining & Amenities

Breakfast here offers continental, vegetarian, and vegan options, which covers pretty much everyone’s needs. The rooftop bar — well, that’s where this place really shines. The views are absolutely incredible, especially at sunset when you can see the park and the city skyline all at once. I spent way too many evenings up there, but honestly, can you blame me? The fitness center is solid too, with those same park views to keep you motivated. There’s also a spa that uses all natural products, staying true to the hotel’s environmental theme.

What makes this place special isn’t just the eco-friendly concept — it’s how seamlessly they’ve integrated it into a genuinely luxurious experience. Couples absolutely love it here (and I can see why, given those park views and the romantic rooftop), but it works just as well for business travelers who want something more interesting than your typical corporate hotel. The staff really knows their stuff about both the hotel’s sustainability initiatives and the neighborhood, which makes a difference when you’re trying to navigate the city. It’s one of those places where the concept could have been all style and no substance, but they’ve actually delivered on both fronts.
