TownePlace Suites by Marriott New York Long Island City Overview

First Impressions

Walking into TownePlace Suites by Marriott New York Long Island City, you immediately get that extended-stay vibe — and I mean that in the best way possible. This three-star property on 11th Street feels more like a well-designed apartment building than a traditional hotel, which honestly works perfectly if you’re planning to stick around for more than just a night or two. The lobby’s clean and modern without trying too hard, and the staff actually seems to remember your name after a day or two.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about Long Island City — you’re literally one subway stop from Midtown Manhattan, but you’re not paying Manhattan prices for everything. The hotel sits in this interesting pocket of Queens that’s been transforming over the past few years, with new restaurants and cafes popping up regularly. You’ve got the 7 train at Court Square just a few blocks away, and honestly, getting into the city is easier from here than from some parts of Manhattan itself. Plus, there’s actual parking on-site, which anyone who’s driven in NYC will tell you is basically like finding gold.

The Suite Life

Every room here is technically a suite, and they really do feel spacious compared to typical NYC accommodations. The kitchenette setup is surprisingly functional — I’m talking full-size fridge, stovetop, microwave, and enough counter space to actually prepare a meal. The living area has a decent-sized couch and a work desk that doesn’t feel like an afterthought. The bedroom’s separate, which makes a huge difference when you’re traveling with someone else and have different schedules.

Breakfast & Daily Rhythms

The breakfast situation here is solid — they do both continental and American options in a buffet setup that doesn’t feel rushed or cramped. I actually found myself looking forward to the morning routine, grabbing coffee and checking out what was happening in the courtyard area. You know what’s nice? The breakfast area has these big windows, so you’re not eating in some windowless basement space like at so many hotels. They keep it stocked well into the morning, which matters if you’re not an early riser.

Why Guests Love It

This place really shines for couples — there’s something about having your own little space with a proper kitchen that makes it feel less like you’re just passing through. The neighborhood’s quiet enough that you can actually sleep with the windows open sometimes, but you’re still close enough to the action that you don’t feel isolated. I’ve stayed here a few times now, and it’s become my go-to when I need to be in the city for more than a weekend. The value proposition just makes sense, especially when you factor in being able to make your own coffee in the morning and store leftovers from those massive NYC restaurant portions.

New York’s apartments welcome families with play lofts, stroller storage, and easy subway rides to museums.

Reviews of TownePlace Suites by Marriott New York Long Island City

  • Summercool1982 from China (8/10)

The breakfast here is great, although sometimes I oversleep past breakfast time, haha.

  • Luis from United States (9/10)

    Clean facility.

  • Matthew from United Kingdom (9/10)

Good sized and well appointed room, with comfortable beds and a well sized bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast provided a decent range of hot and cold food. Whilst the area around the hotel isn't the most modern, the hotel is close to a range of food options and within 5 minutes walk of the subway, with direct connections to Manhattan and Queens. Further subways, with connections to Brooklyn, are within 20 minutes.

  • Jorden from United States (9/10)

Great size rooms, comfy beds and great staff. Stanley was so kind and he’s a great addition to the team.

  • Ira from US Virgin Islands (8/10)

Nice room with kitchenette and full size refrigerator. Near the Metro Station.

  • Christine from United Kingdom (8/10)

    Breakfast excellent and varied

  • Laradigar from Spain (9/10)

The hotel is very well equipped and all the staff went above and beyond to help with anything we needed. The rooms are clean and a good size. It takes approximately 20 minutes to get to central Manhattan, which is super convenient, by direct subway line. Breakfast suited us very well too.

  • Mckenna from United States (8/10)

Hotel itself was very nice especially for the value. Location to transportation is also convenient

  • Qandeel from Qatar (8/10)

Rent is so perfect but train station is little far

  • Guilbert from Australia (8/10)

Hotel is excellent, well maintained and clean though neighborhood seems poor (but quiet enough and did not feel dangerous). Close to subway so easy to get around. Breakfast modest but adequate and generally very happy with the hotel facilities.
Some restaurants and convenience stores close by.
Staff in particular were very helpful and went well out of their way to help us.
On arrival my wife dropped her bag in the taxi and did not discover it until after the taxi left. The reception staff spared no effort in trying to contact the driver via the driver number in the receipt and eventually we were put in touch with the driver who returned the bag with all contents intact. I cannot praise the reception staff highly enough for the effort they put into helping us at this difficult time.
