The Lodge Red Hook Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to The Lodge Red Hook on Seabring Street, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical Brooklyn hotel. The building has this understated, almost residential feel that honestly makes it blend right into the neighborhood — which is exactly what you want in Red Hook. It’s a three-star property, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s basic. There’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup that I actually appreciated more than I expected.
The Red Hook Experience
Red Hook is one of those Brooklyn neighborhoods that still feels like a bit of a secret, even though it’s been “discovered” for years now. You’re tucked away from the Manhattan tourist crowds, but you can still see the Statue of Liberty from the waterfront — it’s maybe a ten-minute walk to the promenade. The area has this interesting mix of old longshoreman history and new artisanal everything. I mean, you’ve got the Red Hook Lobster Pound and Brooklyn Crab within walking distance, plus that weekend food market at the ball fields that locals actually go to.
Your Room
The room itself strikes that sweet spot between comfortable and functional. Nothing fancy, but everything works well and feels clean and thoughtful. The beds are actually comfortable — you know how hit-or-miss that can be — and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. What I liked most was how quiet it stays at night, despite being in the city. The windows do a decent job keeping street noise out, which honestly surprised me given the Brooklyn location.
Practical Perks
Here’s where The Lodge Red Hook really makes sense for travelers: they’ve got parking right at the hotel, which is basically gold in Brooklyn. No circling blocks looking for a spot or paying ridiculous garage fees elsewhere. The breakfast setup is pretty solid too — American buffet style with enough variety to get you going in the morning. It’s not gourmet, but it’s fresh and there’s usually something for everyone. The restaurant area has this casual, almost lodge-like vibe (hence the name, I guess) that works well for starting your day.
Why Guests Love It
What really sells this place is how it lets you experience Brooklyn like you’re staying in a neighborhood, not a tourist zone. Couples seem to particularly get this — the location scores really well with people looking for that authentic New York experience without the Manhattan chaos. You’re close enough to hop on the subway when you want to hit the main attractions, but far enough away that you can actually relax when you come back. The staff gets this balance too; they’re helpful with directions and recommendations without being overly formal about it. It’s the kind of place where you might actually want to hang around the neighborhood instead of just using your hotel as a place to crash.

Cute hotel in Red Hook, has a neighborhood feel even though it's a bit industrial. We enjoyed the breakfast spread each morning. Easy street parking nearby.
Janet from United Kingdom (9/10)
The hotel room was very spacious, and the Queen sized bed was an absolute dream. The breakfast was absolutely amazing, you couldn't wish for more. Porridge, cereals, fruit, eggs, sausages, muesli, sliced cheeses, hams, salads, tomatoes, everything was fresh. The staff serving the hot selections were so lovely. Breakfast was served between 6:30 – 09:30 every day. The location was excellent, only a stones throw away from local bars, restaurants, and shops. Make sure you turn left when leaving the hotel and head down the street, which leads you to a charming area. The Brooklyn Crab is a great place to dine.
Also, the hotel isn't far from the ferry terminals, which take you over to Manhatten. I would strongly recommend this hotel. A big shout out to the reception staff. Don't listen to the moaners, Redhook is a lovely part of Brooklyn, and the people are so helpful and friendly. Take a walk up to Smith Street. This leads you straight into the heart of Brooklyn and an abundance of shops, cafe bars, and local markets heading into DUMBO.
You will save $100's just by choosing to stay here. We will definitely be returning. Xxx
