The Beekman Tower, Trademark Collection by Wyndham Overview
You know what struck me first about The Beekman Tower? It’s actually in this quiet pocket of Midtown East that most tourists never stumble across – tucked on Mitchell Place, which is basically a stone’s throw from the UN building but feels worlds away from the Times Square madness. I mean, you’re still in Manhattan, so don’t expect complete silence, but the street noise here is more like gentle city hum rather than constant honking. The building itself has this sort of understated elegance – it’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel on the block, but there’s something genuinely classy about the whole setup that grows on you.
What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both local and traveler-friendly at the same time. The staff actually knows the neighborhood – like, they’ll tell you the best deli is around the corner on First Avenue, or that the little park by the river is perfect for morning coffee (honestly, most hotel concierges just hand you a generic tourist map). The rooms are proper New York apartments converted to suites, which means you get actual space to breathe and a kitchen that’s not just for show. I stayed there during a busy conference week and having a fridge and microwave was a game-changer – you can grab groceries from the Whole Foods on East 57th instead of paying hotel restaurant prices for everything. The beds are comfortable without being overly plush, and the bathrooms have that satisfying weight to the fixtures that tells you they didn’t cheap out on the details.
Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned without being in the thick of tourist central. The 6 train at 51st and Lex is a quick walk, and you can actually get to Grand Central in about ten minutes if you don’t mind a little stroll. What I loved most was being able to walk to some genuinely good restaurants that locals frequent – there’s this little Italian place on Second Avenue that doesn’t even have a proper sign, but the hotel staff will point you toward it if you ask nicely. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after business hours, which is either perfect for early sleepers or slightly boring if you want nightlife right outside your door. Check-in was smooth – no unnecessary upselling or fake enthusiasm, just professional service that felt genuine. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be the St. Regis, but for what it is – a solid, well-located place with character and space – it delivers exactly what you’d hope for in a four-star spot.

Grear quiet hotel away from the tourist areas but reasonably close to the subway. Loved having a separate sitting room and bedroom, and the well-equipped kitchen to make breakfast. Very friendly and professional reception team. We will be back.

Very quiet part of town close to Midtown. Easy walking distance to the center of things, like Times Square. Loved the room. Kitchen was great. Contained all you really need to cook your own meals, like pots and pans, plates and cutlery. Comfortable living room area with TV. Very easy check-in and check-out experience. Will definitely stay here again.
