Steps from Everything – Modern Studio in Downtown’s Union Square Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Steps from Everything – Modern Studio in Downtown’s Union Square, you immediately get why couples are rating this place a perfect 10 for location. I mean, you’re literally steps away from Union Square Park — and honestly, that’s not just marketing speak. This three-star property sits right in the heart of one of New York’s most dynamic neighborhoods, and the 9.6 location score makes total sense once you’re actually here.
The Studio Space
The room itself is what you’d expect from a modern studio — clean lines, smart use of space, and everything you need without the clutter. What I appreciated most was how they’ve managed to create distinct areas within the compact layout. The kitchenette is actually functional (not just decorative like some places), and there’s enough counter space to prep a quick breakfast or store takeout from the incredible food scene right outside your door. The whole setup feels more like a temporary New York apartment than a typical hotel room, which honestly works better for this location.
Location Perks
Here’s what makes this spot special — you’re surrounded by some of the city’s best dining and shopping, but you’re also perfectly positioned for getting around. Union Square subway station is right there, giving you access to multiple train lines. I found myself walking to places I’d normally take the subway to because everything feels so accessible from here. The farmer’s market happens right in the square on certain days, and there’s this energy in the neighborhood that just makes you want to explore.
Neighborhood Vibe
Union Square has this perfect mix of local New Yorkers and visitors that doesn’t feel touristy in an overwhelming way. You’ve got the Barnes & Noble flagship store practically next door, plus all these great little cafes and bars tucked into the surrounding blocks. What I really liked was how safe and well-lit everything feels, even when you’re coming back late from dinner or a show. The area stays lively but not chaotic, and there’s always something happening in the square itself — street performers, political rallies, people just hanging out.
Why Guests Love It
That 8.6 rating really reflects what this place does well — it’s not trying to be fancy, but it nails the essentials. You get a comfortable, modern space in an unbeatable location without paying Manhattan premium prices. The fact that couples specifically love it makes sense because you can easily walk to romantic dinner spots, catch a show, or just wander around one of the city’s most interesting neighborhoods. It’s the kind of place where you spend minimal time in the actual studio because there’s so much to do right outside, but when you do come back, everything works exactly as it should.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in New York before marathon weekend fills boutique lobbies with runners.

Even though it is a small space, it is very well designed and updated! Great use of the space and has everything someone would need. The location is absolutely perfect. Close to train and many points of interest in the city. The bathroom is so spacious! I was pleasantly surprised. Loved that there was AC as well! That was very helpful because the studio does get pretty warm.

The apartment is very well located near Union Square so very central and there is a subway station very close by.
The apartment is newly renovated and refurbished with a lot of attention to decoration and details like plants and book and also so coffee, tea, condiment, washing up liquid left. That's a nice touch.
It is located at the back so it is quiet as the main street would be very noisy in central Manhattan.
It is well equipped with a coffee machine, fridge, mugs, bowls etc…
The owner was available for messaging and very helpful.
