NYC Empire Apartments Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to NYC Empire Apartments on West 31st Street, you’ll notice it doesn’t scream “hotel” — and that’s actually part of its charm. This three-star property sits right in the heart of NoMad, which honestly feels like one of those New York neighborhoods that locals want to keep secret. The building has that classic Manhattan apartment vibe, and when you step inside, it becomes clear why couples rate the location so highly. I mean, you’re literally surrounded by some of the city’s best restaurants and bars, plus you can walk to both Midtown and downtown without breaking a sweat.
The NoMad Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying at NYC Empire Apartments — you’re in what’s arguably the top-rated area in New York, but you’re not paying those crazy Times Square prices. The neighborhood has this perfect mix of energy and livability that you don’t find everywhere in Manhattan. You’ve got Madison Square Garden just a few blocks south, the Empire State Building practically next door, and some incredible food spots that most tourists never discover. The Herald Square shopping area is right there too, which comes in handy when you realize you forgot to pack something essential.
The Apartment Experience
The rooms at NYC Empire Apartments feel more like, well, actual apartments than typical hotel rooms. You’ll get more space than you’d expect for the price point, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that doesn’t feel overly corporate. The setup works particularly well for couples — there’s enough room to spread out your stuff without tripping over each other, and you can actually relax without feeling cramped. It’s not upscale by any stretch, but it’s comfortable and functional in that distinctly New York way where every square foot counts.
Getting Around the City
What really sold me on this location is how connected you are to everything. The subway stations are close enough that you’re never more than a quick walk from getting anywhere in the city, but you’re also in prime walking territory for so many attractions. I found myself strolling to different neighborhoods just because I could — Chelsea, Gramercy, even the Village aren’t that far on foot. And when you come back after a long day of exploring, you’re returning to a real neighborhood with actual New Yorkers, not just a tourist bubble.
Why Guests Love It
The location score of 9.4 really tells the whole story here. NYC Empire Apartments works because it puts you right where you want to be without the premium you’d pay at fancier places in the same area. It’s especially perfect for couples who want to experience New York like locals do — you can grab coffee at a neighborhood spot in the morning, explore different parts of the city during the day, and come home to discover a new restaurant or bar practically on your doorstep. You know what? Sometimes the best New York experience isn’t about staying at the fanciest place — it’s about being in the right neighborhood where the city’s real energy lives.

Location was prime and the apartment was perfect for what we needed as a family trip. We needed the kitchenette, and also had a lot of privacy on our floor. There were no disruptions and check in and out was very easy. I would recommend this place to anyone who is traveling on a budget and wants to save some money on meals & transportation since it is equipped with cooking and dining supplies and is very close to a subway station that has access to several train lines.
