This Chelsea spot on 24th Street sits right in that sweet zone where you’re close to everything but not drowning in Times Square chaos – you know what I mean? You can walk to the High Line in about ten minutes, and Madison Square Park is literally around the corner, which is perfect if you need decent coffee and aren’t ready to deal with Starbucks tourists first thing in the morning.

The building itself has this industrial-chic thing going on that actually works (I’m usually skeptical of hotels trying too hard to be cool). What really surprised me was how quiet the rooms stay despite being on a pretty busy street – I mean, it’s still New York, so you’ll hear some sirens, but nothing that kept me up. The rooms are definitely on the smaller side, which you’d expect in Manhattan, but they’ve used the space really smartly. Everything feels intentional rather than cramped, if that makes sense. The bed was honestly one of the better hotel beds I’ve slept in recently, and the shower pressure was solid – two things that can make or break a stay for me. Check-in was refreshingly smooth too; they’ve got this efficient system that doesn’t make you feel like you’re being processed through some corporate machine.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know the neighborhood beyond just pointing you toward the obvious tourist spots. When I asked about dinner recommendations, the front desk guy steered me toward this little Italian place on 23rd that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it ended up being one of those perfect New York discoveries. The hotel doesn’t have a full restaurant, but there’s a grab-and-go setup that’s actually pretty decent for breakfast – way better than the sad continental spreads you get at most places. Plus, you’re surrounded by some seriously good food options. Eataly’s close enough for fancy groceries, and if you walk south toward Union Square, you hit some of the best restaurant blocks in the city. The location really shines during spring and summer when you can easily walk to both the High Line and Chelsea Market without feeling like you need to plan your whole day around it. Honestly, for the price point and that 8.6 rating, it delivers exactly what it promises – a solid, well-designed base camp for exploring one of Manhattan’s most livable neighborhoods.

  Great location, about 10 mins walk to Penn station so very easy for airport connections. Subway station bout 2 mins away that takes you uptown or into brooklyn. Great size rooms for a NYC hotel

  Motto is a beautiful urban hotel, with some retro glamour! I loved the style, which was the main reason I selected it. It was getting beautifully decorated as I was checking in. I only stayed one night, so didn't get a chance to use any extra services, but would recommend it to everyone I know.
