Martinique New York on Broadway, Curio Collection by Hilton Overview
You know what struck me first about the Martinique? It’s one of those New York hotels that actually feels like it belongs in the city rather than fighting against it. Walking up to the entrance on 32nd Street – which is honestly kind of a random block between the touristy chaos of Herald Square and the business district – I was expecting another generic midtown spot. But this place has some serious old-school character that somehow works perfectly with modern touches.
The building itself has this great bones-of-Manhattan vibe (it’s actually a converted 1900s hotel, which explains a lot). Inside, they’ve done something pretty clever with the design – it’s got that curated, boutique-y feel that Hilton’s Curio Collection is known for, but it doesn’t feel like they tried too hard. The lobby has this warm, almost speakeasy-ish atmosphere with dark wood and brass details that make you want to actually hang out there instead of just rushing through. I mean, the lighting alone makes you feel like you’re in on some kind of secret. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place – not huge by any stretch (this is Manhattan, after all), but they’re thoughtfully laid out and the beds are honestly pretty great. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even though you’re literally in the middle of everything. The windows do their job, which is saying something when you’re this close to Penn Station and all that comes with it.
Location-wise, here’s the thing – you’re a quick walk from basically anywhere you need to be. Penn Station is right there (sometimes a blessing, sometimes not), but you’re also super close to the Empire State Building without being right in that tourist swarm. The real win is being near Korea Town on 32nd – I’m talking some of the best late-night food options in the city just steps away. Plus, you can actually walk to Madison Square Garden, the Garment District, or even Chelsea without feeling like you need to plan an expedition. The staff gets that travelers want real recommendations too, not just the obvious stuff. They pointed me toward a little coffee spot on 33rd that I never would have found otherwise. Honestly, for the price point and the rating it pulls (solid 8 out of 10 from most people), it delivers on being a grown-up place to stay without the stuffiness or the crazy rates of some of the flashier midtown options. It’s the kind of hotel where you can bring your parents or impress a client, but you’d also be totally comfortable staying there solo for a long weekend.

Check in staff was excellent. Check in and out went smoothly. I was given $40 in credits to spend at the restaurant or cafe. I didn't get to go to the restaurant because we were there for 1 night but i did use it at the espresso bar.
