The rooms themselves are smaller than what you’d get in midtown – this is New York, so manage your expectations – but they’ve done something smart with the space. The design feels deliberately minimalist without being cold, if that makes sense. Big windows, which is crucial because natural light makes everything feel bigger. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are modern without trying to be spa-like or whatever. What I really appreciated was the noise level – 28th Street isn’t exactly quiet, but the windows do their job, and honestly, you get used to the city hum pretty quickly. Check-in was smooth when I was there, though I’d heard from other travelers that it can get backed up during peak times, so maybe don’t arrive right at 3 PM on a Friday if you can help it.

Here’s the thing about staying in Chelsea though – you’re in the middle of everything without feeling like you’re in Times Square tourist hell. The neighborhood has this great mix of locals heading to work, art people doing their thing, and visitors who actually know what they’re doing. There’s no on-site restaurant at the Hayden, but honestly? You don’t need one. Some of the best eating in the city is within a ten-minute walk. The staff seemed to get this too – they had solid recommendations that weren’t just the obvious spots. Parking is… well, it’s Manhattan, so forget about driving if you can. The subway access is decent with the N/R/W lines nearby, though you’ll probably end up walking more than you think because everything’s so accessible from here. For a 4-star place with a 7.2 rating, the Hayden delivers on being a solid home base without any major surprises – good or bad. It’s the kind of place where you sleep well, start your day without stress, and spend most of your time exploring the neighborhood instead of hanging around the lobby.

  The location is great for visiting Manhattan. Much is walkable and subway lines are close by. Good croissants and pastries at breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.

  It’s pretty basic and our room was small but it’s in a great neighbourhood (an easy walk to so many places we wanted to go) and the front desk staff were very nice & helpful. Nice cosmetics in the bathroom. No room service but you can get great uber eats & there are plenty of places to eat in the neighbourhood. An affordable option in an increasingly expensive city.

  The location is amazing. I like how easy it was to get to different parts of the city. The flower market area is very beautiful and some good restaurants around. The reception staff is very kind and helpful as well.
