Holiday Inn Manhattan 6th Ave – Chelsea, an IHG Hotel Overview
You know what caught me off guard about this Holiday Inn? It actually feels like a proper New York hotel, not just some corporate chain dropped into Manhattan. I mean, when you walk up West 26th Street and see it tucked between those classic Chelsea buildings, it doesn’t scream “budget business travel” the way some IHG properties do. The lobby’s got this warm, lived-in vibe – dark wood, decent lighting, and they’ve clearly put some thought into making it feel less sterile than your typical midtown spot.
The location is honestly where this place shines. You’re right in the heart of Chelsea, which means you can walk to Madison Square Garden in about eight minutes (I timed it), but you’re far enough from the Penn Station chaos that you won’t hear sirens all night. What I love is how you’re surrounded by actual neighborhood spots – there’s a fantastic little coffee place called Birch on the corner of 27th that locals hit up, and you’re literally two blocks from the High Line entrance at 26th Street. The Flatiron Building is this easy ten-minute stroll south, and if you want to hit up Chelsea Market, it’s right there on 15th Street. The whole area has this great mix of tourists doing the High Line thing and actual New Yorkers going about their business.
Now, I’ll be straight with you – this isn’t going to blow you away with luxury touches or anything. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but they’re Holiday Inn rooms, you know? What impressed me was how quiet it stays despite being in such a busy area. The staff at check-in was genuinely helpful (they gave me solid restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps), and the elevators are surprisingly fast for a hotel this size. One thing to note – parking around here is basically nonexistent, but honestly, you don’t need a car in this neighborhood anyway. The 6 train at 28th Street is literally around the corner, and you’ve got the R and W at 28th and Broadway if you need to get crosstown. I stayed here during Fashion Week in February, and while the whole Chelsea area gets pretty buzzy during events at the Javits Center or MSG, the hotel itself managed to stay relatively calm. The morning coffee in the lobby is actually decent – not amazing, but it’ll do the job before you venture out to explore.

Subway on 23rd Street in walking distance and Penn Station near by. The hotel is good value for money and I would stay there again.
