Holiday Inn Express – NYC Brooklyn – Sunset Park, an IHG Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Holiday Inn Express – NYC Brooklyn – Sunset Park, an IHG Hotel, you immediately get that “this is exactly what I needed” feeling. It’s one of those three-star places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — just clean, modern, and surprisingly thoughtful about the details. The lobby has this bright, welcoming vibe that honestly feels refreshing after dealing with the chaos of getting into the city. You’ll notice the attention to small touches that make a difference during your stay. The contemporary design elements create an inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for your entire Brooklyn experience.
The Sunset Park Advantage
Here’s what makes this location special — you’re in Brooklyn, but not in the touristy parts where everything costs twice as much. Sunset Park is this authentic neighborhood where actual New Yorkers live, and you can walk to Industry City for some seriously good food and shopping. The subway’s close enough (36th Street station is your friend), and you can be in Manhattan in about 20 minutes. Couples seem to really dig the area — there’s something romantic about those tree-lined streets and the fact that you’re not fighting crowds everywhere you go. The neighborhood offers genuine local culture and dining experiences that showcase Brooklyn’s true character.
Your Room Setup
The room itself is what you’d expect from Holiday Inn Express, but better executed than usual. Everything’s clean and functional — the bed’s actually comfortable, the shower has decent water pressure, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The windows are big enough that you don’t feel like you’re in a cave, and the air conditioning works properly (which, trust me, matters in summer). The layout maximizes comfort in a compact footprint while maintaining the practical amenities business and leisure travelers appreciate.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is honestly one of the better hotel breakfast situations you’ll encounter. They do this American-style spread that’s way more substantial than the usual continental offerings — we’re talking eggs, bacon, waffles you make yourself, the works. It’s included, which saves you from having to figure out where to grab coffee and food before you start your day. The coffee’s decent too, which is saying something for hotel coffee. The dining area is bright and comfortable for a leisurely morning meal before exploring the city.
Why Guests Love It
You know what really works about this place? It gets the balance right between being affordable and not making you feel like you’re roughing it. The staff actually seems to care about doing their jobs well, and there’s reliable WiFi throughout the building. Parking is available if you’re driving (though honestly, you probably don’t need a car here), and the whole operation just runs smoothly. It’s the kind of place where you can focus on enjoying Brooklyn instead of dealing with hotel drama. Sometimes that’s exactly what makes a trip memorable, and this property delivers that seamless experience consistently.

The hotel is at a good location in Brooklyn, close to the metro and also close to nice places like Coney Island. The rooms are large and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Kimberly from United States (7/10)
The breakfast selection was great but the eggs were very dry. The rooms are on the small side but nice decor, great use of space and had everything we needed to be comfortable. Hotels in Brooklyn are very expensive but this was the least expensive and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Kathey from United States (7/10)
Room was very well designed and comfortable
Inga from Norway (8/10)
I think it was worth it's money. The room was spacious and had everything we needed like hair dryer and iron. Breakfast was ok, there was both warm food, bagels, yogurt. Take in mind that there was about 1 hour to any destination in Manhattan by metro, but subway was just 3 minutes away.
