Hampton Inn Manhattan/Downtown- Financial District Overview
Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Hampton Inn on Pearl Street – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it actually gets the job done really well if you know what you’re getting into. The building itself sits right in the heart of the Financial District, which means you’re literally surrounded by those towering office buildings and cobblestone streets that make this part of Manhattan feel almost European sometimes. I mean, you can walk to Stone Street in like three minutes, and if you’ve never grabbed a beer there on a summer evening with all the outdoor seating spilling onto the actual street, you’re missing out.
What surprised me most was how quiet it gets at night – and I know that sounds crazy for Manhattan, but the Financial District basically empties out after 7 PM on weekdays. It’s like having your own private neighborhood, honestly. The rooms are typical Hampton Inn style (you know, clean and predictable), but the staff actually seems to know the area. When I asked about getting to Brooklyn Bridge Park, the front desk guy didn’t just point toward the bridge – he told me about the entrance near Pier 1 that most tourists miss. That kind of local knowledge makes a difference when you’re trying to navigate the city efficiently.
The breakfast situation is standard Hampton fare, nothing fancy, but here’s what matters: you can grab coffee and a bagel and be walking toward the 9/11 Memorial in five minutes, or hop on the 4/5/6 at Fulton Street station without dealing with the usual tourist crowds you’d face staying in Midtown. Parking is going to cost you – there’s a garage nearby but expect to pay Manhattan prices, obviously. I’d honestly skip the car entirely and just Uber from the airport; you’ll save yourself the headache. The elevator can be slow during busy periods, and the rooms facing Pearl Street pick up some morning delivery truck noise, but nothing that would keep you awake. One thing I really appreciated was the fitness center staying open 24/7 – after walking 15,000 steps exploring the city, sometimes you just want to stretch at midnight without worrying about hotel hours. The location really shines on weekends when you can walk to South Street Seaport without fighting crowds, or catch the Staten Island Ferry for those iconic Statue of Liberty views that cost absolutely nothing. For a solid 3-star stay in one of the most expensive cities in the world, this Hampton Inn delivers exactly what it promises – nothing more, nothing less, but sometimes that’s precisely what you need.

The room was nice and clean. Plenty of room to put things in the bathroom and in the wardrobe, clothing area. The lighting was adequate. The location was great. The breakfast area and and the sitting area downstairs was exceptional. Love, loved having the 24-hour coffee, hot water option. The staff was absolutely wonderful. In all of my trips to NY, this was the best staff ever.

Toby from United Kingdom (8/10)
bed was slightly on the hard side but not a problem, well connected considering its as south as you can get with train lines to go up the island all nearby, the breakfast was pretty good
Lisa from United States (7/10)
Room was small! We couldn't open our suitcase unless we put it on the bed. Asked if we wanted a room with a view thinking the view would be of the city, but it was of the building across the street that was an apartment.
