Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of Marriott properties over the years, but this Chelsea location actually surprised me in the best way. Walking up to the Courtyard on 30th Street, you’re hit with this sleek, modern facade that feels way more boutique than your typical business hotel – which honestly makes sense given the neighborhood. Chelsea’s got this interesting mix of old warehouse buildings turned trendy and newer developments, and this place fits right in.

The thing about staying here is you’re genuinely in one of the most walkable parts of Manhattan without the tourist circus. I mean, you’ve got the High Line literally a few blocks away (and trust me, go early morning if you want decent photos), but you’re also close enough to Penn Station that you don’t need to stress about getting to the airport. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night – 30th Street isn’t one of those avenues where you’re dealing with constant sirens and honking. The rooms have these floor-to-ceiling windows that actually open, which you know is rare in NYC hotels, and the blackout curtains work properly. Small thing, but when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag, it matters.

The lobby’s got this whole industrial-chic thing going on with exposed brick and these comfortable seating areas where you can actually work – the WiFi’s solid, by the way. You know what caught me off guard? The staff genuinely seemed to know the neighborhood. When I asked about good coffee that wasn’t Starbucks, the front desk guy directed me to this little place on 8th Avenue that locals actually go to. The fitness center’s better equipped than most hotel gyms, though it gets busy around 7 AM with the business crowd. One minor gripe – parking’s expensive, but honestly, that’s just Manhattan. If you’re driving, there’s a garage next door that’s slightly cheaper than the hotel rate, though you’ll want to book ahead. The whole area’s really come alive in the past few years with new restaurants and bars, and you’re close enough to the Flatiron District that you can easily walk to some fantastic dinner spots. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I’m in town for business but want to feel like I’m actually experiencing the city rather than just surviving it.

  The room was surprisingly spacious and clean, as was the bathroom. The room had a fridge and a microwave as well as an extra sink and a desk. Most New York hotel rooms are tiny, tiny. So to enjoy so many comforts in my room was such a pleasant surprise. Housekeeping was automatic each day, and the view from my room on the 21st floor was spectacular.

  Location is very good and easy to access subway, Had a corner room which was clean and quiet. Room was good size – I had read people say rooms were small but I think the size was fine and in line with other hotels in area. The Bed was very comfy. Staff were friendly and helpful.

  Location is perfect if you like to stay in the center of Manhattan. You are minutes away from subway, Penn station, Times Square…..It looks like a really safe neighborhood. The rooms are very clean, so a great experience. They let us keep the luggage in the hotel till late fr free, as our flight was late at night. If I go back I will stay here.
