Chimney Hill Estate Inn Overview

First Impressions

When you pull up to Chimney Hill Estate Inn on Goat Hill Road, you immediately understand why couples are so drawn to this place. This four-star boutique property sits on eight acres of rolling countryside just outside Lambertville, and honestly — the setting feels almost too perfect to be real. The main stone farmhouse dates back to 1820, and there’s something about the way it’s nestled among mature trees and gardens that makes you want to slow down the moment you arrive. Free parking right on site means you’re not scrambling around looking for a spot, which is actually a bigger deal than you’d think in this area.

The Rooms and Atmosphere

Each room here has its own personality — some feature working fireplaces, others have private terraces overlooking the grounds. I mean, you’re staying in what feels like a friend’s elegant country estate rather than a typical hotel. The furnishings lean toward antique charm without feeling stuffy, and the beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable). What struck me most was how quiet everything gets at night — you’re close enough to Princeton and New Hope to explore, but far enough away that you actually hear crickets instead of traffic.

Location and Local Knowledge

Here’s what the travel sites don’t tell you: Lambertville is one of those river towns that locals from Philadelphia and New York escape to on weekends, but it never feels overrun. You can walk into town in about ten minutes to browse antique shops along Bridge Street, or cross the footbridge to New Hope, Pennsylvania for dinner. The Delaware River towpath is right there if you’re into biking or just want a peaceful walk. Couples consistently rate the location so highly because there’s this perfect balance — romantic and secluded, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Breakfast and Dining

The breakfast situation here is surprisingly thoughtful. They offer vegan options (not always a given at country inns), and if you’re heading out early for hiking or antiquing, they’ll pack breakfast to go. The dining room overlooks the gardens, and there’s something really satisfying about starting your day watching the light change across those rolling fields. You know what I appreciated? They don’t try to be everything to everyone — no elaborate restaurant or flashy amenities, just really good food served in a beautiful setting.

Why Guests Love It

This place works because it delivers on the promise of a genuine country escape without the pretense. The 9.4 rating isn’t inflated — guests consistently mention feeling like they’ve discovered something special rather than just booked another hotel. The staff knows the area well and can point you toward the best local spots, whether that’s a hidden hiking trail or the antique shop that actually has reasonable prices. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out, especially if you’re looking for somewhere to reconnect away from the usual distractions.

Locals suggest to book apartments in New York around Williamsburg for river sunsets, vinyl shops, and craft breweries.

Gorgeous, property that made you feel very comfortable and right at home. The owners were both extremely kind and informative and made our family feel welcome. We did not get a chance to use the sauna but did use the hot tubs and my six year old daughter LOVED being under the stars at night.

We've stayed for a longer period before, this time we just did an overnight. Even one night here for a quick getaway is wonderful. Room was great as is the staff, breakfast is top notch and cooked for you in the morning. Love the sauna, and encourage you to try it with the cold plunge as a great way to help with both physical and mental wellness.

  • Db from United States (8/10)

The history of the house and farm are fascinating. Our room was spacious and attractive. The breakfast was very enjoyable. Our host, Sebastian, was very personable. The location was a short drive to downtown. The video-guided check-in was clever and efficient. The grounds are very well maintained. It was very quiet at night.

  • Kenneth from United States (9/10)

The building was well-maintained, charming and clean. The owner, Sylvester, was pleasant and very accommodating.
Our room was also clean and well-supplied.
Sylvester made breakfast for the guests: Belgium waffles with fresh fruit and avocado toast with eggs cooked to order. We had nice conversations with other guests during our stay.
    Would visit again.
