Insignia Hotel Brooklyn, Ascend Hotel Collection Overview
First Impressions
Pulling up to Insignia Hotel Brooklyn, Ascend Hotel Collection on 61st Street, you get this sense that it’s a no-fuss kind of place — and honestly, that’s not a bad thing at all. It sits in a quieter pocket of Brooklyn, away from the chaos, which you’ll actually appreciate after a long day of exploring the city. It’s a three-star property, so don’t come expecting marble lobbies and chandeliers, but what you do get is a clean, well-run hotel that clearly takes its guests seriously.
Location & Neighborhood
The 61st Street address puts you in the Sunset Park area, which is one of those Brooklyn neighborhoods that feels genuinely lived-in — think local taquerias, dim sum spots, and corner bodegas rather than tourist traps. You’re not far from the waterfront either, and getting into Manhattan is straightforward enough once you figure out the subway. Couples especially seem to take to this part of Brooklyn — there’s something about the low-key vibe that makes it feel like you’re actually staying in the city rather than just passing through it.
The Rooms
The rooms are comfortable and practical — I mean, they’re well put together for what the hotel is. Everything feels tidy and maintained, which matters more than people give credit for. You’re not going to find yourself hunting for a working outlet or wrestling with a shower that only runs cold, which, if you’ve traveled enough, you know is genuinely worth something. It’s the kind of room where you actually sleep well, and sometimes that’s the whole point.
Breakfast
Mornings here come with a continental breakfast, which is exactly what it sounds like — nothing wildly elaborate, but solid enough to get you going before a day out. Think pastries, coffee, the usual spread. It’s the kind of breakfast that works well if you’re planning to eat a proper meal later in the neighborhood anyway, and trust me, the food options around Sunset Park give you plenty of reasons to do exactly that. Grab something light at the hotel and then go find a proper plate of dim sum a few blocks away — that’s the move.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing that actually stood out to me: this hotel has a noticeably high rate of repeat guests, which tells you something real. People don’t come back to a place just out of habit — they come back because it worked for them, because the staff remembered something, or because the whole experience just felt right without any drama. For couples especially, there’s a comfort here that’s hard to manufacture. It’s not flashy, it’s not trying to be something it isn’t, and honestly that consistency is what makes Insignia Hotel Brooklyn worth bookmarking. If you’re after a dependable Brooklyn base with a genuine neighborhood feel around it, this one quietly delivers.
Hotels in New York tower over skyline rooftops, leafy brownstone lanes, and waterfront promenades.

Reviews of Insignia Hotel Brooklyn, Ascend Hotel Collection
Efren from United States (8/10)
Insignia was a nice hotel in front of a HotPot/BBQ all-you-can-eat, and other nearby food spots in the heart of Chinatown Brooklyn. The staff was friendly, and the amenities were pretty good. The power/light fixture took a bit to get used to, needs to input Keycard to access power in the room otherwise it resets/shuts off after 10-15 mins. That being said think it's a good way to save energy, they also offer minor beverages + snacks at reception, if that doesn't satisfy you, I can't stress it enough, go to the HotPot place right across the street; it's the best experience when staying at this hotel.

The location is very good because it is super close to the train station (less than 5 min by walking) and the line goes to Manhattan.
