The Wall Street Inn Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to The Wall Street Inn on South William Street, you immediately get that “hidden gem” feeling — it’s tucked into the heart of the Financial District without all the flashy signage you’d expect from a typical hotel. This three-star property has this understated charm that honestly works perfectly for the neighborhood. The building itself has character, and you can tell they’ve put thought into maintaining that classic New York feel without trying too hard.

Location & Neighborhood

I mean, you really can’t beat this spot if you want to be in the thick of things downtown. You’re literally steps from Stone Street’s cobblestone bars and restaurants, and the subway connections are fantastic — the 4, 5, and 6 trains at Bowling Green are right there. What I love is that couples seem to absolutely adore this location (they rate it 9.6, which is pretty incredible), and I get why. You can walk to the Brooklyn Bridge, grab dinner in the South Street Seaport, or just wander through the historic streets that most tourists never really explore properly.

The Room Experience

Here’s where the Wall Street Inn really surprised me — the beds are genuinely comfortable, and guests consistently rave about getting great sleep here. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Manhattan, after all), but they’re thoughtfully designed and you’ve got everything you need. The room I stayed in had this cozy feel that made it easy to unwind after walking around the city all day. You know what’s nice? The windows actually open, which is rarer than you’d think in New York hotels.

Breakfast & Amenities

The breakfast setup is pretty solid — they do both continental and buffet options, so whether you want to grab something quick or sit down for a proper meal, you’re covered. It’s not fancy, but it gets the job done and honestly, when you’re staying in this part of town, you’ll probably want to explore the neighborhood’s coffee shops and delis anyway. The staff here actually knows the area well and can point you toward some local spots that aren’t in every guidebook.

Why Guests Love It

Recent guests have been rating the location at 9.2, and after staying here, that makes total sense. You’re in this perfect bubble where you can experience historic New York without feeling like you’re in Times Square chaos. The combination of comfortable accommodations, that unbeatable Financial District location, and the fact that you can actually get a good night’s sleep here — it just works. Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying on a street where so much American history happened, even if you’re just using it as a base to explore the rest of the city.

Reviews of The Wall Street Inn

  • Nataliia from Ukraine (9/10)

    Staff was amazing and welcoming.

  • Katarzyna from Poland (7/10)

Great location. It's near several subway stations and ferry stop. Rooms are spacious, and clean, but dark (rather common thing in Manhattan). Infrastructure could use a refreshment though. Staff at the reception wasn't super welcoming when we arrived, but people sitting there on subsequent days were nice. The fact that coffee and tea is available the whole day, as well as sweet snacks, is a nice touch.

  • De from Italy (8/10)

    Breakfast not incredible, but good.

  • Susan from United States (9/10)

It was my second stay at this hotel and the facilities are so lovely and the staff so nice and welcoming.

  • David from United Kingdom (8/10)

Comfortable room, plenty big enough for us, but decor a little dated and carpets overdue for replacement.
We appreciated the all day tea/coffee facility. The breakfast of toast, bagels, tea, coffee, cereal etc was more than adequate for our needs and of better quality than we expected, from other reviews.
Location for us was excellent as we were cruising from Brooklyn and it was very easy to get the ferry from Pier 11 to Red Hook, a few minutes walk away. Handy for Wall Street subway stations too and the interesting downtown sites and venues.
The journey from JFK was easier than we thought it might be, Airtrain to Jamaica, LIRR to Penn and the red subway line to Wall Street. We are 70 plus with heavy luggage and we managed OK but note that at some subway interchanges, we didn't find a lift so it was a bit of a struggle with the suitcases.
It wasn't a cheap stay but for New York it wasn't so bad and less expensive than other establishments we researched, but for us the location was ideal. We would definitely stay again.

  • Steve from United States (9/10)

    Old style. Fantastic bath.

  • Dymphie from Belgium (8/10)

The location, the size of the rooms, very clean. Overall very nice place to stay.

  • Kurt from United States (8/10)

    Excellent location for lower Manhattan.

  • Sara from United States (7/10)

It was well situated within the city, close to public transport. Front desk was friendly. Bed was very comfortable!

  • Suzanne from United States (9/10)

The location is absolutely ideal. Behind the inn is a cobblestone street that is restricted to pedestrians. The restaurant lined street is decorated with lights and garland. Live music can be heard from the rooms when the windows are open. It is a block from the water and 3 blocks from the ferry. So many fantastic restaurants within walking distance.
