Hilton Garden Inn West 35th Street Overview
You know what caught me off guard about the Hilton Garden Inn on West 35th? It’s tucked right in the thick of Midtown madness, but somehow they’ve managed to create this little pocket of sanity. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the chaos of Herald Square and Penn Station – which sounds awful until you realize how incredibly easy it makes everything. No subway transfers, no hunting for cabs with luggage, just boom, you’re there.
The lobby actually feels more boutique than typical Hilton Garden Inn, probably because they had to work with this narrow Manhattan footprint. It’s got this unexpectedly cozy vibe with darker wood tones and lighting that doesn’t make you feel like you’re in a hospital. Check-in was smooth – the staff clearly deals with frazzled travelers all day and has it down to a science. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star property, but here’s the thing that really matters: the windows have decent soundproofing. Yeah, you’ll still hear some street noise (it’s 35th Street, not a monastery), but I actually slept well, which honestly surprised me given the location. The beds are comfortable enough, and there’s this little kitchenette setup that’s genuinely useful if you’re staying more than a night or two – I mean, grabbing groceries from the Duane Reade downstairs and making coffee in your room instead of paying $6 at some tourist trap is pretty nice.
What really sells this place is the location intelligence, if that makes sense. You’re close enough to Times Square that you can walk there in about 10 minutes, but far enough away that you’re not drowning in costume characters and chain restaurants. The Empire State Building is right there – like, annoyingly close if you’re trying to avoid tourist crowds, but pretty convenient if that’s on your list. For food, you’ve got actual neighborhood spots within a block or two, not just the usual Midtown office building cafes. There’s this decent Korean place on 36th that locals actually eat at, and honestly, being able to grab real food without venturing into the Times Square restaurant wasteland is worth something. The 8.3 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re looking for boutique charm or luxury touches, keep looking. But if you want a reliable, well-located base for exploring Manhattan without paying luxury prices, this place actually makes a lot of sense.

Reviews of Hilton Garden Inn West 35th Street
Radu from Romania (9/10)
Excellent location, very nice staff, check-in/check out very simple and easy, cleaning in the room every day, hot water in the shower. I asked for a room with a nice view and I got it. Very quiet. Nothing bothered us during the 10 days of our stay. The fridge, microwave and tea/coffee maker proved very useful.
Sukarmetal from Hungary (7/10)
The location is premium, everything is on the corner. The view was also nice to the Empire State Building, however it costed some extra money.

The location was outstanding., by far the best location if traveling for Christmas. We come to NYC every year to see Santa and we were basically in his back yard! Easy access to transportation, restaurants, shopping; everything you could possibly need or want while visiting NYC at Christmas time!

Everything was great, the location was on point with everything within walking distance or if we needed the subway it was right outside the hotel. The views from our room were amazing.
