SpringHill Suites by Marriott New York Midtown Manhattan/Park Ave Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when you first walk up to this SpringHill Suites on 24th Street, it doesn’t scream “wow” from the outside. It’s sort of tucked into the Flatiron area in that understated way that actually works out better than you’d think. The lobby’s clean and modern without trying too hard, which I appreciate after staying in places that feel like they’re auditioning for a design magazine.

What really got me was the location – and I don’t mean that in the usual “convenient to everything” way everyone says. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Madison Square Park, which honestly became my morning coffee spot because there’s something nice about starting your day somewhere green in Manhattan. The Flatiron Building is right there too, obviously, but what I loved was being able to walk to Union Square in about ten minutes, or catch the 6 train at 23rd Street without feeling like I was hiking across the city. Plus – and this matters if you’re planning to eat well – you’ve got Gramercy and all its little restaurants just south of you. I mean, Maialino is practically around the corner.

The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from SpringHill Suites, but done right. Everything’s clean, the beds are actually comfortable (not just hotel-comfortable), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The kitchenette thing works if you’re staying more than a couple nights – I used it mainly for keeping decent coffee and some fruit around, but you could definitely do more. What surprised me was how quiet it was at night, considering you’re in Midtown. Maybe it’s because 24th Street doesn’t get the same chaos as the streets further north, but I slept better than I expected. The breakfast area gets busy around 8 AM with business travelers, so if you want to avoid the crowd, either go early or wait until after 9:30. And here’s something nobody tells you – the elevators are actually fast, which sounds stupid until you’re running late and don’t want to wait forever.

Is it perfect? Well, it’s a 3-star place, so you’re not getting turndown service or a rooftop bar with Instagram views. But honestly, that’s kind of the point. You get a solid, comfortable base in a neighborhood that feels more like actual New York than the tourist-heavy areas, without paying those crazy Midtown prices. If you’re the type who wants to explore different parts of the city rather than just hitting Times Square and Central Park, this spot gives you options. The whole area has this energy during the day – people actually working and living here, not just visiting – and then it gets pleasantly quiet at night. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was in town for more than just a quick weekend trip.

The reception area is splendid and the desk staff is warm and friendly. I loved the little bag of bottled water and candy treats. The room was spacious with excellent temperature control and it was very quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was top notch and the staff were exceptional. There were many good places to eat dinner in the neighborhood.

Great central location, and very quiet. The breakfast was also quite good.

  • Ashley from United States (8/10)

Quiet neighborhood and central to a few subway stations and experiences. The staff understood the assignment (my fear of elevators) and ensured I got a lower floor and had access to the stairs. On top of that, their breakfast is one of my favorites.
