Hilton Garden Inn New York Times Square South Overview

First Impressions

Walking into the Hilton Garden Inn New York Times Square South, you immediately get that “okay, this works” feeling. It’s not trying to be something it isn’t — this three-star property knows exactly what it’s doing in one of Manhattan’s most chaotic neighborhoods. The lobby feels fresh and modern without being flashy, and honestly, after dealing with the sensory overload of Times Square just blocks away, that understated approach is actually pretty refreshing. You can tell they’ve put thought into creating a calm space where you can decompress from the city madness.

Location That Actually Makes Sense

Here’s the thing about Hell’s Kitchen — it’s got this perfect sweet spot between being close to everything touristy but still feeling like real New York. The hotel sits on West 37th Street, which means you’re literally a five-minute walk to Times Square when you want that full Broadway experience, but you’re also surrounded by some genuinely great local spots. I mean, you’ve got Port Authority right there (which sounds terrible but is actually super convenient for getting anywhere), and the Theater District is close enough that you can grab dinner and catch a show without the usual Manhattan logistics nightmare. Couples seem to really get this — they consistently rate the location highly, and I can see why.

The Room Experience

The rooms at Hilton Garden Inn New York Times Square South are what I’d call “smartly designed for the city.” They’re not huge — this is Manhattan, after all — but everything feels purposeful. The beds are genuinely comfortable (crucial after walking 20,000 steps around the city), and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase, which you’d be surprised how many NYC hotels can’t manage. What I really appreciated was the work area — it’s functional enough if you need to catch up on emails or plan your next day’s adventures. The bathrooms are clean and modern, though don’t expect a spa experience.

Breakfast and Practical Perks

The American breakfast here is solid without being memorable — think reliable hotel fare that’ll fuel you for a day of sightseeing. You know what though? Sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re planning to eat your way through the city anyway. The real practical win is having a 24-hour market on-site, because let’s be honest, when you’re staying in Times Square and need a bottle of water at 11 PM, you don’t want to venture into that tourist circus outside. The fitness center is there if you’re feeling ambitious, but most people are getting their workout just walking around New York.

Why Guests Love It

This hotel succeeds because it doesn’t oversell itself — it just delivers on what matters most in this location. You get a clean, comfortable base in the heart of everything, with staff who actually seem to know the neighborhood and can point you toward good restaurants that aren’t tourist traps. The value proposition makes sense here, especially when you factor in how much you’ll save on transportation costs by being so centrally located. It’s the kind of place where you’ll sleep well, start your day efficiently, and spend most of your time exploring the incredible city right outside your door.

    Beautiful facility. Great location.

  • Larryh from United States (8/10)

Room was typically NYC size (aka cramped) but complete and well insulated from above/below so pretty quiet. Bathroom was exceptional – shower, sink, hairdryer, good lighting. Bed was comfortable but filled the floorspace so we ended up using the bed for sitting. Staff was great. Place was pretty clean and modern. I was surprised there was a mini-fridge and microwave in the desk space. Desk and lighting in room was pretty good. Fourteenth floor was pretty good for avoiding street noise. Elevators all worked all the time and were fast. We had no problem getting a taxi or Uber to the front door. Penn station is in walking distance so our trip to Long Island was convenient.

  • Marlene from United States (8/10)

It was a 25 dollar buffet or high prices a la cart and no bagels. Fruit not very fresh.

Proximity to the Javitz center and NY Penn was amazing! Grand Central isn't too far either. The reception during check in was super sweet to me and it wasn't just due to my diamond member status.
