The Gardens Sonesta ES Suites New York Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to The Gardens Sonesta ES Suites New York on East 64th Street, you immediately get that feeling you’ve found something special in the Upper East Side. This four-star property sits right in the heart of one of Manhattan’s most coveted neighborhoods, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has that classic New York elegance without being stuffy — you know what I mean, the kind of place where you feel comfortable but also a little bit sophisticated just walking through the lobby.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally surrounded by some of the best shopping, dining, and culture that Manhattan has to offer. Central Park is just a few blocks away, which means morning jogs or evening strolls are actually realistic (not just something you tell yourself you’ll do). The proximity to Madison Avenue shopping is dangerous for your wallet, but incredible for convenience. And if you’re into museums, well, you’re practically neighbors with the Met and the Frick Collection. I mean, couples consistently rate this location a 9.1 out of 10, and after spending time in the area, I totally get why.
Suite Life and Comfort
The real game-changer here is that these aren’t just hotel rooms — they’re actual suites with kitchenettes. After a few days of New York restaurant prices, having the option to grab groceries from the nearby Whole Foods and make your own breakfast becomes surprisingly appealing. The beds are genuinely comfortable too (guests rave about the sleep quality), which matters more than you might think when you’re walking 15,000 steps a day exploring the city. Each suite feels more like a temporary apartment than a typical hotel room, giving you space to actually spread out and relax.
Practical Perks
One thing that caught me off guard — they actually have private parking available. In Manhattan, that’s basically like finding a unicorn, and it eliminates so much stress if you’re driving into the city. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood well, which means you get real recommendations rather than the usual tourist trap suggestions. They understand that sometimes you want the authentic New York deli experience, not just the fancy restaurant everyone’s heard of.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it balances upscale comfort with practical convenience. You’re staying in one of the best-rated areas in all of New York, but you’re not paying those insane Midtown prices or dealing with the chaos of Times Square. The suite setup means you can actually live a bit like a local — grab coffee from the corner spot, pick up fresh ingredients, and have a quiet space to recharge between adventures. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your next New York trip before you’ve even checked out.

Great sized rooms, fantastic location. A pearl in NY
Yahui from Taiwan (9/10)
The location is excellent—just a few minutes’ walk to Central Park. While the price is on the higher side, it feels safe and comfortable. The room is very spacious, with enough space to lay out five suitcases without any issues. The heating is cozy, and the automatic curtains are a nice touch. The staff are all very kind and friendly. Highly recommended!

Lindsey from United States (8/10)
Location of this hotel was perfect for our visit. It was warm during our visit so walking was easy and spent all of our time on foot exploring the city. The room was equipped with a kitchen which made it nice to make a light breakfast, heat up leftovers and full refrigerator kept everything cold. Grocery store was near by for snacks and meals. Cost was reasonable for size and location.

Really helpful and friendly / welcoming staff.
Room had space to have bags and lots of wardrobes/shelves so didn’t feel like we were camping out of suitcases the whole week.Patricia from United States (9/10)
We loved the location, the incredibly spacious room, and above all, the friendly, engaging staff. Our room was serviced quickly and expertly and it was nicely appointed.
