Courtyard New York Manhattan/Midtown West Overview
You know what struck me first about the Courtyard Manhattan Midtown West? It’s actually tucked away on 34th Street in a spot that feels way less chaotic than most Midtown hotels, even though you’re literally walking distance from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. I mean, when you step out the front door, you’re not immediately hit with that overwhelming tourist crush – it’s more like you’re in a neighborhood that’s figuring itself out, especially with all the Hudson Yards development happening around the corner.
The lobby has this clean, modern vibe that doesn’t try too hard to be fancy, which honestly feels refreshing after staying in some of those over-the-top Manhattan places. Check-in was smooth (I got there around 3 PM on a Tuesday, so maybe I just got lucky), and the front desk staff actually seemed to know the area well – they pointed me toward a decent coffee place on 9th Avenue that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star spot, nothing groundbreaking but everything works properly. The beds are comfortable, the shower has decent water pressure, and here’s something that matters more than people realize – the windows actually block out most of the street noise. Trust me, that’s not a given in this part of the city, especially being so close to all the Penn Station foot traffic.
What I really appreciated was how the hotel sits right in that sweet spot between the corporate Hudson Yards area and the grittier, more authentic blocks heading toward Hell’s Kitchen. You can grab a quick lunch at one of those new fancy places in the Shops at Hudson Yards if you’re feeling bougie, or walk five minutes in the other direction and hit up some seriously good hole-in-the-wall spots that have been around forever. The subway access is ridiculous – you’ve got the 1, 2, 3, A, C, E all within a few blocks, plus the 7 train extension that takes you straight to Hudson Yards if you want to check out the Vessel or do some shopping. Parking is expensive (well, it’s Manhattan), but there’s a garage practically next door if you’re crazy enough to drive into the city. One thing to keep in mind – this area gets pretty quiet at night, which is great for sleeping but not so great if you want to stumble out for late-night food. You’ll need to walk a bit further west toward 10th Avenue where things stay lively later. The hotel’s restaurant is decent for breakfast, nothing spectacular but it gets the job done, and their coffee is actually better than I expected. Overall, it’s one of those places that just works – solid, reliable, well-located without being in the absolute thick of tourist madness.

Reviews of Courtyard New York Manhattan/Midtown West
Tom from Belgium (9/10)
I enjoyed the rooms being clean, comfy and silent, great for a good night's rest. The bathrooms have rain showers and they're some of the best showers in any hotels I have stayed at. Furthermore, the staff at reception is very accomodating and professional.
Finally for the hotel to be just a few blocks away from the Moynihan train hall makes it a great fit for passing through the city and staying the night and then returning to catch the next train.Chevonne from United States (8/10)
