Sohotel Overview
So I’ve stayed at Sohotel a few times now, and honestly? It’s one of those places that just gets SoHo right. You know how some hotels try too hard to be “boutique” and end up feeling fake? This isn’t that. The building sits right on Broome Street – actually, you can see it from the corner of Wooster if you’re walking up from the subway – and it has this understated thing going on that I really appreciate.
The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully compact, which in New York terms means they’re not trying to pretend they’re bigger than they are, but everything’s been planned out so you’re not bumping into furniture. The windows are decent-sized too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re looking out at the cast iron buildings across the street. I mean, you’re paying to be in SoHo, so you want to actually see it, right? The noise level’s pretty manageable – sure, you’ll hear some street sounds, especially on weekends when people are bar-hopping, but it’s not the kind of thing that keeps you up unless you’re a really light sleeper. Pro tip: if you’re here during Fashion Week or the holidays, book early because this stretch of Broome gets absolutely packed, and good luck finding anything decent last minute.
What I really like about staying here is how you’re positioned for everything without being in the middle of tourist chaos. Prince Street’s literally a two-minute walk, so you’ve got all the shopping and that whole scene, but you can also just wander down to Little Italy for dinner – Lombardi’s is maybe six blocks south if you’re craving pizza that actually lives up to the hype. The staff’s pretty solid too; they’re not overly chatty, but they know their neighborhood and they’ll point you toward the good coffee spots (skip the Starbucks, obviously, and hit Birch Coffee on Prince instead). Check-in’s usually smooth, though I’ve noticed they can get a bit backed up on Friday afternoons when everyone’s arriving for weekend trips. The whole vibe feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed apartment than some corporate hotel situation – which, let’s be honest, is exactly what you want when you’re trying to feel like a local for a few days. It’s not perfect, and you’re definitely paying SoHo prices, but if you want to be right in the heart of one of the city’s most walkable neighborhoods without sacrificing comfort, this place delivers on that promise.

The hotel is in a great location 5 mins walk to an excellent selection of restaurants, cafes and shops in Soho, close to little Italy and China town, and surprisingly quiet given how central it is. The room itself was very cool, spacious with two huge, comfy beds, gorgeous bathroom with underfloor heating, Oritigia toiletries & excellent shower.
