I’ll be honest – when I first walked into The Marlton Hotel, I wasn’t expecting much from the narrow entrance on 8th Street. But honestly, this place surprised me in the best way. The lobby hits you with this old-world elegance that feels authentic, not like someone just slapped vintage wallpaper everywhere and called it boutique. You know what I mean? The kind of place where you can actually picture writers and artists hanging out in the 1920s (which they actually did, by the way).

The rooms are definitely on the cozy side – and I mean cozy in that very New York way where space is precious but every inch is thoughtfully used. The bed was genuinely comfortable, which honestly matters more than square footage when you’re walking 15,000 steps a day exploring the city. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stayed at night, considering you’re literally in the heart of Greenwich Village with Washington Square Park just a couple blocks away. The design leans into that literary history without being too precious about it – dark wood, brass fixtures, good lighting for actually reading (rare in hotels, let me tell you).

Location-wise, you’re golden here. I mean, you can walk to the Comedy Cellar in about three minutes, grab coffee at Joe on Waverly Place, and you’re close enough to hear the street musicians around the fountain but far enough that it won’t keep you up. The subway situation is solid too – you’ve got the 4, 5, 6 at Union Square within walking distance, plus the N, Q, R, W at 8th Street-NYU. Parking is… well, it’s Greenwich Village, so good luck with that. But honestly, you don’t need a car here anyway. The front desk staff actually knows the neighborhood – not just the tourist spots, but where to grab a decent late-night bite or which way to cut through to avoid the NYU crowds during the day. That kind of local knowledge makes a difference when you’re trying to feel less like a tourist and more like you belong, even if it’s just for a few days.

  Really nice and cozy hotel with a perfect location. I stayed with my daughter and we loved the bed and the pillows, the room and the bathroom is a little small (I missed floor heating in the bathroom) – but hey, it's NY… the lobby with the fireplace was a favorit hangout and it is nice that it fills up in the evening. Very friendly and helpful staff! All in all – I will definitely come back!
