The staff actually seemed to know what they were doing during check-in, which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given in this city.

What really won me over was how the location works in practice, not just on paper. Sure, you’re a quick walk from Central Park (and I mean quick – like five minutes if you’re not dragging luggage), but more importantly, you’re in that sweet spot where you can grab coffee at that little place on 6th Avenue, duck into MoMA when the mood strikes, or catch a show without feeling like you need to plan your whole evening around transportation. The subway situation is pretty solid too – you’ve got the N, R, and W trains right there at 57th, plus the F at 57th and 6th if you’re heading downtown. Parking? Well, it’s Midtown, so expect to pay, but there are a couple of garages nearby that won’t completely destroy your budget.

The rooms themselves are what I’d call “New York practical” – they’re not huge (this is Manhattan, after all), but they’re thoughtfully laid out and actually quiet, which surprised me given the location. I was expecting sirens and honking all night, but the windows do their job pretty well. The beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress, and honestly, that’s sometimes the most important thing after a long day of walking around the city. The bathrooms are clean and functional – nothing fancy, but everything works, and the water pressure is decent. Look, this isn’t a luxury resort, and the 7.3 rating reflects that it’s a solid, reliable choice rather than somewhere you’d go for a romantic getaway. But for exploring the city? It hits the mark. You’re paying for the location and convenience, and in this case, you’re actually getting what you pay for – which in New York, is worth noting.

  Dennis was great and really turned our whole experience around. He moved us to the king bedroom suite with an attached king bedroom and it was perfect for the stay. It was only $200 more a night and we didn’t know it was an option.
